SUMMER READING PROGRAM
TAKE A CHANCE!
What will the summer reading program look like this year? That is a very good question, and even our library employees weren’t sure what the answer would be. What we did know is that we wanted children and teens to read and exercise their brain every day during the summer. However, with the library closed to patrons, how could this happen?
We were inspired by the idea of MYSTERY GRAB BAGS. Your family can ask (send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call us at 223-5540) for a bag of books based on the age of the child doing the reading. Each bag will contain three books.
How can children track their reading? We will include a paper log to keep track of your summer reading in each bag.
How can children register? No need to register, just turn in your reading log when you return your books. You can also provide a review of the book, which means write up a couple of sentences on your reading log about why you did or did not like the book. We will try to share that information on our FB page. Your review could help other children find a book they want to read this summer.
The summer reading program will happen for the month of July. The week of August third, we will tally up the reading logs and hand out small prizes to our readers.
Mystery grab bags will continue for the month of August, if families are interested.
