What if everyone in Waldo County read the same book and then talked about it? That's the idea behind Waldo Reads Together, a local One Book program initiated by Aging Well in Waldo County.
This winter all Waldo County residents ages 14 and up are invited to join in reading Colson Whitehead's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Nickel Boys. The goal is to help alleviate some social isolation while also contributing to ongoing conversations about social justice, racial justice, equity and diversity.
The Winterport Memorial Library will be receiving copies of this book so library patrons can participate. Email the library at firstname.lastname@example.org to let me know if you want to reserve a copy of the book.
February: Read the book and join one of the virtual discussion groups.
March: Participate in online events related to the book.
